Our Story

Camillo is the kind of story I needed as a child.

I'm Aron Howe, and I'm neurodivergent. Growing up, I didn't have books that celebrated who I was. I needed stories where being different wasn't something to overcome, but something to understand and embrace. I needed characters who thought differently, felt deeply, and saw the world in their own unique way. Those stories didn't exist for me then.

That realization—understanding what was missing from my own childhood—became the foundation for Camillo. It's a collection of beautifully illustrated picture books, interactive sticker books, practical totes, and art items created by someone who knows firsthand what it means to be different. These are the resources I wish I'd had.

What makes Camillo special is that it gently touches on themes of masking and personal identity. Through the story and sticker-based play, children have the space to explore masking, personal identity, individuality, and being themselves. The interactive format creates natural opportunities for exploration—children engage with these themes through creative play, making the conversations feel organic and safe rather than didactic. They're discovering and discussing authenticity in a way that feels like play, not instruction.

Every story in the Camillo World is made with intention. Each narrative, illustration, and interactive element is thoughtfully crafted to honour children's experiences and support their journey toward self-discovery and authenticity.

Every product in the Camillo world is made with intention. They're not tools meant to change children or make them fit into a mould. They're invitations to explore feelings, express creativity, and discover that being yourself is exactly enough.

With every purchase of The Chameleon Who Found His Colours, a donation is made to Cool Earth. Cool Earth's mission is to protect rainforests and support indigenous communities in their fight against deforestation. By choosing Camillo, you're not only investing in your child's emotional growth and creativity—you're also contributing to the protection of our planet and the communities who steward it. It's another way that Camillo reflects our values: celebrating authenticity, supporting what matters, and creating positive change.

This is personal work, rooted in authenticity and a deep belief that every child deserves to see themselves reflected in the stories they read and the tools they use to express themselves.
